writing
This week, we reviewed all the letter sound s,m, c, t, a, p,g,o of Unit 1.  We practiced blending simple words such as cat, map, mop, cop, sap, tap etc.  And we reviewed our camera words. (sight words/ tricky words)
Next week, We will be reviewing the sounds a,m,s,t,p,c,o,g and we will begin Unit 2. We will focus on the letter d and the letter b.
Math
This week, we learned about sizes and we used new vocabulary to describe the length and height of things. We compared the sizes of various objects and measured ourselves to compare who was the tallest or the shortest in the classroom.
Next week, we will work on our number recognition, counting and putting numbers from 0-20 in correct order.  All the activities will be based on Halloween by counting bats, pumpkins and ghosts.
PSD
This week we watch Casper the friendly ghost and we talked about what are the things we can do to help someone feel better when they feel sad or lonely.
During this lesson we will review Casper the friendly ghost and we will read the book ‘We are kind and helpful’. Then we will go off to the tables and draw a picture showing kind and helpful friendly behavior. 
Science
This week we introduced the topic of Halloween. We talked about the meaning of the celebration, where it comes from and how we celebrate it.
Next week, we will review body parts, the 5 senses by playing a monster puzzle. By reviewing famous Halloween characters we will discuss how monsters and certain creatures are made of reviewing body parts. How many eyes or legs can a monster have? How about a ghost? Do they have bones like a skeleton? Etc.
Art
This week, in the spirit of Halloween we made a witch using various colored paper. And on Thursday we made little pumpkins using orange paint and apples as a stamp.
Next week, on Wednesday will make a ghost using tissue paper and paint. On Thursday we will have our last Halloween Art project and create a haunted house using milk cart and paint.
Physical
This week we played various activities all around the topic of Halloween. We played ‘catch the spider on its web’ using tongs and strings.
Next week, we will work on our fine motor skills and paint with our fingers tracing ghost and bats. 
Notices and Events
Monday October 31st: Due to the passing of the King, there will be no Halloween party on Monday. The dress code will be the school’s Uniform only.  Please do not send your child with a costume. The Witch's tavern .... Booooo

 This week for Halloween the Role play area has been transformed into a Witch's Tavern.... 

Everyone has been pretending to be a witch or a wizard. The role play area encourages children to play co-operatively, taking turns with others and form positive relationships. In this specific role play, they are encouraged to write, to draw making marks pretending to be a witch or wizard. They can write potion recipes on the book of spells and potions and they can write labels for their pretend potions. 


 Sandy the witch is making a potion with special ingredients.


Ton-Aor is flying away on a broom.


Sandy and Lita are putting their magic sticks back at their correct place after playing in the role play area.


Nene turned Miss Emilie into a Giraffe!


Nene is writing ingredients for a potion on the book of spells.


Ton-Aor the witch is making a secret love potion with snakes and orange warms.


Oh the Wizard is flying away with his broom.


Witch' Cali turned her classmates into animals with her magic stick!


Nene and Ton-Aor has been turned into a gorilla and a giraffe!

Weekly Update week 8

Phonics/
writing
Last week, we practiced writing, reading and played games and fun activities around the letter sound s,m, c, t, a, p,g,o.  We kept on searching for the initial letter sounds in words and worked on blending sounds together to begin reading a few words. Cat, map, mop, cop, sap, tap etc.  We also learned a few camera words. (sight words/ tricky words)
Next week, We will be reviewing the sounds a,m,s,t,p,c,o,g. We will keep playing around blending sounds and reading 3 sounds words and review our camera words.
In writing lessons we will keep working on letter formation activities and continue having free writing lessons in our writing books.
Math
Last week, we worked on number recognition and reviewed putting the numbers from 0-10 backwards. We also reviewed pattern making by using sounds and actions.
Next week we will work the concept of size. We will measure each other using popsicle sticks. We will focus on building vocabulary when talking about size. (length, short, shorter, shortest, long, longer, longest, height, tall, taller, tallest, short, etc.)
PSD
Last week we talked about friendship, what it means to be friendly and respect each others’space and feelings.
During this lesson we will work on our confidence when speaking in front of the class. We will talk about Casper the friendly ghost and discuss how we can help others feel better when they feel sad or lonely. 
Science
Last week was the last we covering out topic on likes and dislikes. We discussed about all the different things we like and dislikes.
Next week, we will introduce the topic of Halloween. What is Halloween? When do we celebrate it? How do we celebrate it? What Halloween characters do you know? We will discuss the celebration and play a bingo game.
Art

In Art last week, we talked about animals we like and dislike and we made our favorite animal using various materials. To finalize our topic, we worked on our final project coloring and drawing ourselves and cutting and coloring all the things we like and dislikes.
Next week, we will make a witch using various materials and colors and we will make a pumpkin stamp out of apples using paint and paper.
Physical
Last week we kept on working on hand coordination and repeating patterns through body movements and sounds. We also work on our motor skills through out the week making various objects during free play.
Next week, we will play various activities around Halloween to help us develop our fine motor skills.
