Friday 22nd September

We have had such a busy week especially in Inquiry! A lot of the focus this week has been on listening to instrucitons, to teachers and most importantly each other. There have been lots of group tasks this week in all subjects.

We helped Kru Dim get ready for Wai Kru Day!

We worked in a team in Maths to solve sums adding up to 10!

We worked in small groups in Inquiry to think of some amazing questions for our questionnaire! We were great communicators :)

Then we were amazing risk takers and inquirers as we interviewed some teachers about what they like and don't like! 

Mr Renie likes cats but Ms Jenny doesn't!

Then we learnt to draw graphs showing how many people liked or didn't like different things! Luckily everyone likes Y1L :)

English	We have been reading and the fairy tale Cinderella and looked at different interpretations of this.	We begin our topic on Instructions.
Maths	We have used objects to add.	We will look at shapes and symmetry.
PYP Inquiry	We have ‘sorted’ people into different groups based on their characteristics, abilities and passions.	We will be ‘Going Further’ in our inquiry and start to make our individual posters.

Please make sure your child has their swimming stuff in a separate bag that they can take to the pool instead of carrying things separately as it means many things get dropped and potentially lost.

Friday 15th September

We have been busy bees this week!

We have been creative in English getting ready for our version of The Three Little Pigs

In Inquiry we were communicators and asked lots of questions to other children around the world about their bedrooms, you can see the art project here

We talked a lot about being a good friend this week, being kind and being peaceful. We added some more kind words to the Kindess Confetti board as well :)

We also got to take part in the voting for the new student council members and prefects!

Y1 Weekly Update: Monday 11th September - Friday 15th September

English	We read The Three Little Pigs and looked at different interpretations of this.	We will be working on the fairytale Cinderella.
Maths	We found the pairs that make 5, 6 & 10 and started to find missing numbers in number sentences.	We will double numbers 1 to 5, find 1 and 2 more; count back 1 and begin to find 1 less.
PYP Inquiry	We talked about our likes and dislikes.  We interviewed our friends to find out our similarities and differences.	We will move on to the ‘Sorting Out’ phase on the inquiry, which will require us to sort ourselves into groups based on our characteristics, abilities and passions.
