RE Weekly Update: September 5th to September 9th, 2016

Phonics/
writing
|
This week, we practiced
writing, reading and played games and fun activities around the letter sound
‘m’ and ‘s’. We sang our jolly phonic
songs from a-z and worked on letter formation using a variety of hands on
activities.
|
Next week, We will be reviewing the sounds
‘a’, ‘m’ and ‘s’ and we will be introduced to the sound ’d’ and ‘t’. We will be looking at the letter sounds
through books, letter formation activities and phonic activities.
|

Math
|
We reviewed numbers from 0-20, by
singing songs, playing counting games and number recognition games.
|
We will continue looking at number
recognition and counting from 0-20.
|
|
PSD
|
We read a book about Ms Beanie’s
classroom and talked about the importance of respecting our classroom
properties and putting things back where they belong.
|
Next week, we will keep on talking
about respecting our classroom property and how to put things back where they
belong.
|
|
Science
|
This week we went on a second
sensory walk with our cameras and pretended to take pictures. We took notes
of our discoveries along the way. We
looked at the skeleton and learned about body parts and body movements.
|
Next week, we will be looking at
emotions and feelings and discuss our summer holidays.
|
|
Art
|
In Art we cut and glue a skeleton
with our partner. For our second lesson everyone participated and we made a
puzzle of a full human body. Everyone drew a body part and we assembled each
body part together to make a person.
|
Next week, we will play around
color mixing and feelings. How certain colors make us feel. Perhaps we will
look Artists such as the painter Rothko who paints to express feelings and
emotions through the use of color and composition.
|
|
Physical
|
We kept on
practicing cutting, writing and tracing. We also played the game ‘ Walking in
the jungle’ and discussed the different movements and actions we can do with
our body, jumping, walking, hopping, skipping etc.
|
Next week, we will keep working on
pencil control and fine motor skills through various activities. We will keep
on cutting, tracing, writing and having activities using playdough.
|

Notices and Events
|
No hat no play policy
Please ensure that your child has a hat sent it. In
accordance with our new policy, if your child does not have a hat, we cannot
let them go out to play. This is for your child's protection and we would
like to keep them safe from the sun.
Golden time
Please
remember to bring a toy for golden time on Fridays. Thank you.
