WEEKLY UPDATE


RE Weekly Update:  May 22th to May 26 th, 2017
This Week 
Next Week
Phonics/
writing
This week, we were introduced to the sound ‘th’. We reviewed all sounds learned so far and play a ice cream game to review word families (fat, cat, sat, hip, sit, lip etc.)
Next week, we will be introduced to the sound ‘wh’ and practice blending by playing bingo. We will continue having guided reading session and will also work on ending sound  in 3 letter sound words.
Math
This week, we were introduced to the concept of volume and capacity.
Next week, we will learn how to share and use the terms ‘half, fourth and whole’.
PSD
This week, we learned about home care with pets and animals. How we treat and take care of our pets.
Next week, we will be learning about zoos and animal parks.
Science
This week, we learned about habitats and farm animals.
Next week, we will be learning about desert animals and animals that live in the Savannah.
Art
This week, we made animal masks and we worked on an Art project by making 5 different habitats.(the desert, the forest, the rain forest, the Arctic and the Savannah)
Next week, we will be making desert animals (camel, lizard, snake) and we will learn how to draw animals that live in the Savannah (lions, giraffes, cheetahs, hippos, etc)
Physical
This week, we went on an exploratory walk outside to observe plants and flowers we talked about this week. We also played duck-duck goose by making all the different sounds of farm animals. (wolf-wolf, ooooo, cat- cat mioo mioo etc)
Next week, we will be creating a desert habitat on a sand tray and review all the desert animals through play.
Notices and Events
Books returned: please bring the book borrowed from the EY library before Tuesday and put the returned book in RE’s returned book basket’. Thank you.

Field trip: please return slip to Kru Paan before Wednesday May 24th

Tuesday and Wednesday: I will be away on a professional course (please email me if you would like to contact me)

Friday: RE will be going to primary (Y1) for the first visit, they will go to visit the classroom and have lunch in the canteen.
