Weekly Update week 11

RE Weekly Update: November 14th, to November 18th, 2016

Phonics/ writing	This week, we continued learning our letters sounds in unit 2 and were introduced to 2 new letters sounds, l and r.  We practiced blending some new words using the letters from unit 1 and unit 2.	Next week, We will continue to work on Unit 2 letter sounds and on blending simple cvc words. We will focus on the letter l and r in our writing letters.
Math	This week, we reviewed 2D shapes through various hands on activities and use appropriate vocabulary to describe them.	Next week, we will work on our counting, number recognition and putting numbers in correct order.
PSD	This week we learned about proper behavior when treating family members.	During this lesson we will learn about helping at home. When we see a messy room what should we clean up? How can we help mommy or daddy wash the dishes? Should we tidy up our toys after we play?
Science	This week we were introduced to our new topic’ my family’ and we will draw our family tree. We will talk about our differences and use appropriate vocabulary to describe our family members.	Next week, we will talk about different families and also look at animal families and try to use appropriate vocabulary when talking about their babies. (ex: lamp, cub etc.)
Art	This week, for our first lesson we will make a stick puppet of a family member. For our second lesson we will decorate our class mail box, decorate and paint an envelope and postcard for a family member that leaves far away from us.	Next week, we will talk about different skin colors and mix different colors. We will listen to various instruments and music and create our own rhythm and lyrics.
Physical	This week we worked on our motor skills using various materials.	Next week, we will mime actions associated to our family life.
Notices and Events	For the Christmas concert: please provide green trousers/skirt and a green t-shirt/long-sleeved top, or a green dress Please send the clothes in a bag with your child's name on as soon as possible so that we can begin to make costumes.
