WEEKLY UPDATE week 2


RE Weekly Update: January 9th  to January 13th, 2017

Next Week
Phonics/
writing
This week, we reviewed our camera words. After the holiday the students needed a review week so we played games and reviewed all the camera words learned last term.
Next week, we will start unit 3 and learned the letter sounds ‘e’ and ‘n’. We will blend and review the words from unit 1 and 2.
Math
This week, we learned about ‘one more’ and ‘one less’. We played various games and tried to guess the correct number.
Next week, we will look at addition. We will have a simple introduction to addition by playing various games in groups.
PSD
This week, we talked about how to use our feet properly. We learned that feet are for walking and not for kicking.
During this lesson we will learn about sharing and taking turns.
Science
This week, we talked learned about the 5 different food groups (grains, meats, dairy, fruits and vegetables.) Then we learned about healthy and unhealthy food.
Next week, we will review healthy and unhealthy food and learned about healthy eating and why it is important to eat healthy and exercise. Then for our second science lesson we will learn about the origin of our food. Where does milk come from? Eggs? Where can we find vegetables? And so forth.
Art
This week, we made a caterpillar using paint and balloons inspired by the book ‘The very Hungry Caterpillar’. Then for our second lesson we learned how to cut fruits using a knife and a cutting board and made our own fruits salad.
Next week, we will paint fruits and we will experiment painting with spaghetti.
Physical
This week, for physical we played various games all related to our theme on food.
Next week, we will work on our gross motor skills and race on an obstacle course.
