WEEKLY UPDATE


RE Weekly Update: January 16th  to January 20th, 2017
This Week 
Next Week
Phonics/
writing
This week, we reviewed all the letters learned we know and practice blending some 3 letter sound words. We learned the letters ‘n’ and ‘e’ and wrote a story about an elephant.
Next week, we will start blending words from our third unit and we will learn the letters ‘k’ and ‘j’. 
Math
This week, we were introduced to the basic concept of ‘addition’. We used our fingers to add and count and played various games to understand this very complex concept.
Next week, we will learn how to read time and describe the time such as 1 o’clock, 2 o’clock, 3 o’clock. For our third lesson we will learn the days of the week and their correct order.
PSD
This week, we talked about that sometimes we don’t always get what we want.
During this lesson we will learn about different cultures and that children all over the world are like us but speak different languages, dress differently and don’t eat the same food as us.  
Science
This week, we talked about the importance of healthy eating and exercising. Then for our second lesson we talked about where our food comes from.
Next week, we will make our class world map and learned about continents and have an introduction to Europe to follow our next topic ‘The Netherlands’.
Art
This week, we had a lot of fun. We learned how to draw fruits and painted with our fingers various fruits with dots and circles. Then for our second lesson we painted with spaghetti and experimented with color mixing.
Next week, we will learn how to use watercolor and will experiment with different techniques and make our own world map.
Physical
This week, we went on a obstacle race and learned how to climb, jump and how to shoot rings.
Next week, we will work on our fine motor skills through various activities all themed based on Chinese new year.
